Michael Martin is a prolific teacher, visionary, charismatic and captivating leader who serves as senior pastor of Oak Spring Church Arlington.

Presently, by the blessings of God and under the auspice of Michael Martin, Oak Spring is undergoing rapid growth – with this growth, of course, comes “growing pains.”  We have moved from a membership of 200 plus to well over 1,200 partners – in a short period of time (and still growing).  We are not negligent in our mission or slothful in our work, but there is obvious room for improvements or adjustments.  We must remain focused on the mission of the Church.  With the mission, however, God has given the vision for the local assembly (for this season and appointed time).

Michael Martin was born October 27, 1971 in Memphis, TN. He has been a gospel preacher for over 20 years, having accepted his calling at age 16. He was licensed and ordained in the church where he grew up – Middle Baptist Church-Whitehaven in Memphis, TN under the auspice of his pastor, Dr. Lester Basken.

Martin accepted his call to the preaching ministry in 1988. Shortly after his ordination, he served in many leadership capacities in his church and surrounding communities. He attended Lemoyne-Owen College and Mid-America Theological Seminary. In 1989, he won first place as the National Oratorical Winner in the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. – affording him national exposure and experience.

Martin has a tremendous love and discipline for reading and writing. He hopes to put a lot of his “work” in publication – with the ultimate desire to author several books in the future. Above all and most importantly, his first ministry priority is to his family.

We will continue to equip all the saints of Oak Spring to do the work of the ministry by enhancing and incorporating the gifts and abilities of existing and potential leaders.

The process and objective of Christian ministry can be defined in the apostle Paul’s terms as “the equipping of the saints for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect person, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, that we...may grow up in all things into Him who is the head, that is Christ.” Ephesians 4:12-15

MMM believes that our way of doing things should be reflective of the God we serve. Advancing the Kingdom of God with the Spirit of Excellence!

Who is Good?   -Romans 3:10

As it is written, there is none righteous, no not one.

Who has Sinned?  -Romans 3:23

For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.

The Penalty for Sin.   -Romans 6:23

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Who has Paid the Price?  -Romans 5:8

God demonstrates his love toward us, in that, while we were sinners, Christ died for us.

The Way to be Saved.   -Romans 10:9-11

That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.  For with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.  For the Scripture says, Whosoever believes in Him will not be ashamed.

Claim God’s Promise of Salvation.  -Romans 10:13

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.  If you realize that you are a sinner in need of forgiveness, believe that Jesus died on the cross for your sins, and are ready to confess him as Savior and Lord, then pray to god and tell Him your decision.

Sample Prayer

“Dear God, I know that I have sinned and that the penalty of that is death. I want to turn from my sinful life and trust my life to you. Please forgive me. I believe that Your Son, Jesus Christ, died on the cross for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, and is now alive with you in heaven. Jesus I want you to be the Lord and Savior of my life from this point forward. Amen.

Michael Martin Ministries (MMM) understand that any Christian without a church home is a contradiction to what God intends for them to be.  Once you accepted Jesus as Lord, you were born into the universal church, but God also desires us to be a part of a local church.  When we dedicate ourselves to Christ, we automatically dedicate ourselves to His church. We should make sure that we stay a part of a Christ-centered, Bible-based, and Mission-focused church.
